We headed towards Big Sur from San Francisco. Once we reached Monterey, we stopped for lunch at a small French cafe. The roads were full of people out enjoying the beautiful weather, so after eating we quickly headed towards Bixby Bridge on Highway 1. There were lots of whales just off the coast and around every sweeping turn you could see them blowing water high into the sky. Our main point of interest was Old Coast Road, a dirt loop that takes you up into the mountains above Big Sur. We took our time and enjoyed getting a chance to ride some dirt before getting ready to head home. We left just after sunset and hit lots of traffic, so we decided to take the coastal route all the way home. It got cold fast as the sun disappeared, but we were rewarded with seeing some shooting stars due to a meteor shower that was visible that night.
